WSMV-TV Anchor Dan Miller Has Passed Away
April 9, 2009

Long time Channel 4 WSMV-TV Anchor Dan Miller passed away Wednesday night at the age of 67 in his hometown of Augusta, Ga. after suffering from a heart attack.
Miller was visiting Augusta for the Masters Golf Tournament. He was reportedly walking through his old neighborhood with longtime colleague and friend Rudy Kalis when he became short of breath.
Dan was originally from Augusta and worked there and Columbia, SC in TV before moving to Nashville in 69.
He spent a short amount of time in Los Angeles where was an anchor at KCBS and worked with his longtime friend and former WSMV weatherman Pat Sajak (of Wheel Of Fortune fame) on the CBS late night Pat Sajak show.
Miller came back to Nashville in the mid 90’s and has been there since where he has become a well known media icon.
Our hearts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

My wife and I both were deeply saddened to hear of this great loss to
Nashville, the state of Tennessee, and broadcast journalism across this
great country of ours. We both felt like he was family because he was
in our home almost everyday on our t.v. We can only imagine the pain
and suffering those of you @ W.S.M.V. are going through. Our thoughts
and prayers are with you all and his family. We will never forget the
respect that your station gave the day Trooper Larkin was killed on
I-40 by being the only news station to make that it’s first story of
the news that evening. I know it’s going to be hard and difficult,
especially for Demetria, but keep up the good work.
