Will Smith’s New Movie ‘I Am Legend’ Banned From China
December 10, 2007
Will Smith’’s new movie ‘I Am Legend’ has suffered a major box office setback in the Far East now that Chinese film bosses have banned it from their cinemas.
Smith has been busy campaigning to secure a release for I Am Legend, but China is stubbornly sticking to its policy of capping the influx of Hollywood movies - part of a drive to boost the country’s film industry.
The delay comes amid reports China has issued a three-month ban on all American films.
Smith says, “We struggled very, very hard to try to get it to work out, but there are only a certain amount of foreign films that are allowed in.”
However, the hasn’t given up hope of agreeing on a release date - he’s currently working on a deal with China Film Group’s chairman Han Sanping.
In the past, Chinese regulators have issued bans on foreign films during holidays and school breaks, when audiences are biggest.

When did he win an Oscar? He has been nominated twice but has yet to win.

I hear they banned the movie because there was not enough lead content in it. Then they assasinated the person in charge for the disgrace.

The US should file a complaint with the WTO about this. This is technically illegal since china is a wto member.
China does this with all industry and it is unfair.
Basically, foreigners cannot setup factories in china. They must partner with mainland companies to get a contract and manufacture in their factor….which leads to all kinds of copyright and patent infringements. I say, move all the factories out of china, let them peddle their trash to north korea….ooops….north korea doesnt have any money…

I’d rather live in China than that pathetic anti democratic shit hole you people call “The United States”, at least the Chinese Government openly admits to not being a full democratic state, unlike the US. Fucking nieve Americans.

Uhhh… subtitled Torrent will make it to China long before any official release. Guess they are trying to get in early to avoid that.
