Whoopi Goldberg is taking some heat for her comments she made about Roman Polanski’s arrest over the weekend in connection with Polanski having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977.

On Monday on The View Whoopie said:

“I know it wasn’t rape-rape. I think it was something else, but I don’t believe it was rape-rape.  He pled guilty to having sex with a minor and he went to jail, and when they let him out he said ‘You know what, this guy’s going to give me 100 years in jail. I’m not staying’. And that’s why he left.”

In the Today Show video above Whoopie called them to clarify the above comment,  she was only referring to the legal charge against him at the time 30 years ago and she also wanted to make it clear she is not a supporter of Polanski.
