Whitney Houston Opens Up To Oprah Winfrey
September 14, 2009
Whitney Houston, 46, chats one-on-one with Oprah Winfrey in a two-part interview which premiered on The Oprah Winfrey Show today, Monday, Sept. 14.
During the interview, Houston says ex-husband Bobby Brown was emotionally abusive during their 14 year marriage adding he wasn’t physically abusive but that “he slapped me once but he got hit on the head three times by me.”
She added she “was horrified he spit on me, in my face” and that made her “very hurt, very angry.”
Of her marriage to Brown she says:
“He was my drug. I didn’t do anything without him. Something happens to a man when a woman has that much fame. … I tried to play down all the time. I used to say, ‘I’m Mrs. Brown, don’t call me Houston.’”
“At home, he was very much the father, he was very much the man. He was very much in control. I liked that. When he said something, I listened. I was very interested in having someone have that kind of control over me. It was refreshing.”
The R&B Diva opened up about her drug use with the Talk Show Diva admitting she took drugs, including cocaine and marijuana, with ex-husband Bobby Brown.
She says:
“I had so much money and so much access to what I wanted. I didn’t think about the singing part anymore. I was looking for my young womanhood.”
