The Pink Glove Dance For Breast Cancer Awareness Takes Over The Net

November 30, 2009

The Pink Glove Dance is a breast cancer awareness video featuring and created by the staff of Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. It looks like a ton of fun and a great way to spread awareness!
The video, which has already been viewed by over than 1.6 million people, was made by more than 200 hospital staff members who danced their hearts out to raise money for breast cancer.

It started with a medical supply company that decided to produce a new line of PINK medical latex gloves:

Sue MacInnes of Medline Industries Inc., the company that created the gloves says:

“We thought that seeing health care workers wear pink gloves would remind people to talk about breast cancer and that some of the money from the gloves could be used to pay for mammograms for women that couldn’t afford it.”

And in an effort to promote the campaign, Providence St. Vincent Medical Center came up with the idea to produce The Pink Glove dance video.

Nursing manager at Providence St. Vincent, Martie Moore says:

“We had so many people who said, ‘You know, this disease has touched my life. I want to be a part of it.’”

Watch the Pink Glove Dance Video above.  It’s sure to make you smile :)
