 Beatrice Arthur

Beatrice Arthur, best known for playing Dorothy on the beloved sitcom The Golden Girls, has died at age 86 after losing her battle with cancer.

Spokesman for Arthur’s family, Dan Watt, told the AP that she had been suffering with cancer, though he did not say what kind.

Her family was by her side remembering her as “brilliant and witty woman” while she died peacefully at her Los Angeles home.
