Ted Kennedy Laid To Rest

 Ted Kennedy Grave Site

On Saturday, August 29, 2009 Senator Edward Ted Kennedy was laid to rest in Arlington Cemetery.

The burial followed a day full of remembrance that included a funeral mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Basilica, a flight to Virginia, a motorcade through Washington D.C., along with a stop at Capitol Hill for a brief ceremony and finally procession to Arlington Cemetery.

The service was televised, but not as easily seen on TV as they had hoped it would be because the procession ran late causing the burial service to be held at around 8:30 PM instead of the planned time of 5:30 PM.  The CNN commentators explained that the lighting was not set up for night time.

Ted Kennedy’s gravesite is near that of his two brothers.  It is located near the Eternal Flame of President John F. Kennedy and the simple grave site marked with a cross of his brother Robert F. Kennedy.  Ted’s grave will also reportedly be marked by a simple cross, like his brother Robert’s.
