VH1’s latest reality show ‘Off Pitch’ follows the lives and absolute craziness that comes with the Grand River Singers – a musical group from La Crosse, Wisconsin who take their inspiration from the hit TV show, ‘Glee’. This isn’t just a simple singing club – for these 20-something singers, it’s their lives and performing clearly means everything as members talk passionately about following their dreams and being able to do so through the group.
Founded by partners Rob and Tim, the group may be passionate, but they also need some work. Their past performances have left viewers rolling in the aisles for all the wrong reasons (falling over on stage can be funny but not smooth!) and they need to whip in to shape fast. They are hoping to take their show on the road to take on bigger performances, but in order to do so, some members will be cut and others will be put to the test to make sure they’re ready to hit all the right notes and finally make those dance routines work for them.
The group mixes a cross-section of different people (for example, there is only one straight guy in the whole group) and tears are shed regularly as fights break out – will they actually be able to get it together and perform as a single unit? Thankfully, tight friendships are also formed which might help them work out their differences.
As one of the mentors says “welcome to our nightmare, bitches”. It won’t be an easy ride and not every note is in tune!
OFF PITCH airs on Wednesdays on VH1 at 10/9C!
