Simon Cowell Wants Mel B On X Factor

 

Simon Cowell reportedly wants Melanie Brown to replace Sharon Osbourne on The X Factor.

A show source tells the News of the World:

“Mel’s in pole position to join the judging panel.  She’s ideal and Simon Cowell is eager for her to join the team.”

Scary Spice was one of Cowell’s first choices for the judging panel before the show launched in 2004, but he eventually dropped her in favor of Osbourne. 

Osbourne announced she was quitting on Friday, just days before filming for the new series begins (June 12). 

A statement released on Osbourne’s behalf said:

 ”Sharon Osbourne announced today that after four fantastic and successful series of the X Factor she has decided to leave the show.”

“Sharon would like to thank the wonderful British public for their enormous support during what’s been an exciting ride. She would also like to take this opportunity to thank Simon Cowell and ITV while wishing them all the best for the next series. Sharon will be making no further comment.”

X Factor returns to TV later this year.
