Shia LaBeouf has been arrested for suspicion of DUI after being involved in a car accident.  New details reveal he was also injured in the accident.  See a photo of the truck after the accident in the thumbnail below.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ LaBeouf was involved in a car accident at about 3:00 AM at the corner of La Brea and Fountain in Hollywood.  Shia made a left turn in front of another car and the two collided, causing Shia’s car to roll.

Paramedics were called to the scene and both parties were taken to a local hospital, but originally the report was no major injuries were sustained.

LaBeouf was placed under arrest on suspicion of felony DUI after he exhibited “outward signs” of intoxication at the scene.

An update on the story is that LaBeouf badly injured his left hand and will need surgery.

A passenger in Shia’s car sustained minor head injuries and the driver of the other car sustained minor injuries as well.

Deputies are evaluating the case at the hospital right now to determine if LaBeouf will be booked on felony or misdemeanor DUI.

Word is Shia will be in the hospital “for a while.”

UPDATE:  Shia LaBeouf will not be booked on felony DUI charges, but he’ll be cited and released on suspicion of DUI misdemeanor due to the fact that the female in Shia’s car, as well as the male driver of the other car, suffered bumps and bruises but no major injuries.

LaBeouf is no stranger to the law - in November, he was accused of drunken trespassing after refusing to leave a Chicago, Illinois convenience store at 4am, but the misdemeanor charges were subsequently dropped. Then, in February, he was charged with smoking in a prohibited area in California - to which he pleaded guilty and was forced to pay a $500 fine for the offense.

His latest legal woe comes just three months after he vowed never to get arrested again - because he didn’t want to hamper his promising film career.

In May, he said:

“There’s nothing cool about getting arrested for stupid stuff at my age. But it keeps happening to me. I could pretend that I find it all highly amusing, but I’d be lying. It’s deeply embarrassing. I decided a long time ago to stop doing stupid things, so clearly I’ve still got some work to do on myself. I’m not anonymous any more. Now, I light up a cigarette in the wrong place and overnight I’m the Al Capone of misdemeanors. What I’ve got in terms of acting is too important for me to jeopardize.”
