Seth MacFarlane Host Academy Awards Oscars |

It was announced today that ‘Family Guy’ creator Seth MacFarlane will host the 85th Academy Awards, which will take place on Sunday, February 24, on ABC.

Oscar telecast producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron say:

“We are thrilled to have Seth MacFarlane host the Oscars. His performing skills blend perfectly with our ideas for making the show entertaining and fresh.  He will be the consummate host, and we are so happy to be working with him.”

Of the honor MacFarlane says:

“It’s truly an overwhelming privilege to be asked to host the Oscars.  My thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don’t find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen Roast.”

Seth is the creative force behind the TV series ‘Family Guy,’ co-creator of ‘American Dad!’ & ‘The Cleveland Show’  and he made his directorial debut this summer with Ted, which he also co-wrote,  produced and voiced the title character.

I’m excited about this news! Seth is hilarious.  The opening act is sure to be a hit!
