Tennis star Serena Williams, 29, sat down for a Today Show interview with Matt Lauer to give an update on her recent pulmonary embolism and how she is hoping to get back on the court after undergoing surgery for life-threatening blood clots in her lungs.

When Matt asked her how she is doing now, speaking via satellite she says:

“Every day is better and better.  I’m not doing much. I really haven’t left the house recently.  I’m on blood thinner injections. I inject myself twice a day.  I’m just taking it one day at a time. My lungs are fairly healthy and I’m on the road to recovering. I want to come back and be able to do well.”
