Season 9 American Idol Top 24

The top 24 have been revealed for season 9 of American Idol.  One contestant that made the show as one of the 12 guys, Chris Golightly (pictured above), was disqualified and replaced with Tim Urban after Idol found out Chris had a prior contract which isn’t allowed.

Fox says in a statement to UsMag:

“It has been determined that Chris Golightly is ineligible to continue in the competition. AMERICAN IDOL contestant Tim Urban has replaced Golightly as part of the Top 24.”

FOX will not comment on why Golightly is “ineligible” but a source close the show tells UsMag that Golightly had a prior recording contract, which he “did not disclose” despite being given multiple opportunities to do so.

“This is not about whether or not the contract in question was either active or inactive or valid.  It’s crucial you tell the truth in the audition process… That is why he’s being disqualified.”

Golightly told fansite JoesPlaceBlog that he a contract with a boy band that expired in 2009.

The competition gets underway LIVE next Tuesday as the top 12 girls sing Hot 100 songs with the guys performing on Wednesday.
