Rihanna Good Morning America Interview With Diane Sawyer

Rihanna, 21, gave her first interview since being assaulted 8 months ago by then boyfriend Chris Brown this morning, Thursday November 5, 2009 on ABC’s Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer.

Rihanna told Diane that Brown, 20, held her in a headlock twice and bit her on the ear and fingers and hinted that it may have taken “eight or nine attempts” before she could finally leave the relationship.

She says:

“I stayed. I even went back after he beat me, which was wrong.  It’s completely normal to go back. You start lying to yourself…I’ll say that to any young girl who is going through domestic violence: ‘Don’t react off of love.’”

ABC will air more of the interview on Friday’s GMA and will air in its entirety Friday night on 20/20.
