Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in leg at nightclub
November 29, 2008

According to multiple reports, Giants receiver Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg last night at a Manhattan nightclub called The Latin Quarter and suffered what is described as “a non-life threatening wound ” according to ESPN.com and Foxsports.com.
Burress, who was not expected to play against the Washington Redskins on Sunday because of a hamstring injury, reportedly was not at team meetings and did not attend the team’s Saturday walkthrough.
The Giants had no official comment. The team was preparing to leave for Washington, where they are scheduled to play the Redskins tomorrow afternoon.
This incident is just the latest in what has become a very troubled season for Burress. It began with him receiving a five-year, $35 million contract extension hours before the season opener. However, he has violated “dozens” of team rules, according to sources, drawing multiple fines from the Giants. He also drew a $45,000 fine from the league for criticizing the officials after a game.
His most infamous incident, though, came when he skipped a day of work and didn’t return the Giants’ calls. He was then suspended withoug pay for two weeks and one game, though after an appeal he only lost one pay check, worth approximately $117,000. It was later revealed that police in Totowa, NJ had to be called to his house in June and August to investigate a domestic disturbance. Each time, his wife reportedly took out a temporary restraining order, though the courts eventually threw both of them out.
UPDATE: The Giants have issued the following statement:
“We are aware of the fact that Plaxico was involved in an apparent accidental shooting last night. We have been in contact with Plaxico since shortly after the incident. Plaxico suffered a wound to his right thigh. Obviously, our primary concern is for Plaxico’s health and well-being, and given the circumstances, we are relieved to say he was released from a New York City hospital at approximately 2 p.m. today. We have been in touch with NFL Security on this matter. At this point, we are attempting to gather all the facts surrounding this incident. This incident could become a matter for law enforcement officials, and because of that, we have no comment on any of the details.”

What would NFL Security have to do with this incident of total stupidity that took place at a nightclub? It has nothing to do with the NFL except for the fact that the idiot that shot himself in the leg plays in the league (well he does for now anyway lol). Too bad he didn’t shoot himself in the crotch!!
