Coming just less than a week after it was confirmed that Kara DioGuardi will for sure be returning as a judge on American Idol, Paula Abdul Tweeted via her Twitter page that she will not be back for the popular show’s ninth season.

Two tweets posted shortly after 7:30 p.m. read:

“With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to #IDOL. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all…being a part of a show that I helped from day1become an international phenomenon.”

“What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me.  It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month.

“I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all.”

A couple weeks ago David Sonenberg, Abduls manager, told the Los Angeles Times that producers hadn’t even approached Abdul with a number, which he called “kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful.” Especially after the highly publicized deals the other judges were making with the show like Ryan Seacrest’s $45 million deal and the even more crazy lump sum reportedly being negotiated by Simon Cowell.

I am absolutely addicted to American Idol and I for one couldn’t stand Kara, so this news really makes me sad :(
