Out With The Old And In With The New On SNL

We reported last week that two new female comedians would be joining the cast of Saturday Night Live this season, but now news comes that the two cast members that were hired last season are getting the boot.

Michaela Watkins and Casey Wilson are now being let go and getting replaced with Jenny Slate and Nasim Pedrad for the shows 35th season.

Of the split Michaela Watkins told The Comic’s Comic:

“I will say to you now, though, that I had a GREAT time there.  Although it seems kinda crazy right now, this may shake out to make sense to everyone. Lorne isn’t known for indulging in any lip-service and I feel very encouraged by his words last week.”

His words she is referring to is when Watkins told EW.com that Michaels told her:

“that he felt deep down that I should have my own show. And I agreed.  I’m working on something I’m very excited about now, so…the journey continues…”
