Olympic Medal Shakedown and Shakeout

February 28, 2010

The U.S. has never won a many total medals in the Winter Olympics as they have this year—37. And they will have one more after today’s hockey game.

Canada will finish with the most gold medals. Right now they have 13. Will that be their lucky number and will they have earned 14 by the end of today’s hockey game?

The U.S. has the most silver (14) and bronze (13).

Who has won the most medals in the Vancouver Olympics? Not Apolo Ohno, or Bode Miller or Julia Mancuso or Lindsey Vonn.

It is the Iron Lady, Marit Bjorgen of Norway with five—3 gold, 1silver and 1 bronze. No one else has won more than three medals total. Bjorgen skis cross-country.

The Canadian hometown gold medal drought is certainly over!
