Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords gave the ok to release a couple new photos of herself since the shooting in Tucson, Arizona. She posted the photos on her Facebook page Sunday and almost immediately had hundreds of positive comments on them. The photographer who took the photos says he was inspired by her:

“It was very inspiring to see how much she had recovered,” said P.K. Weis, the veteran photographer who’s known Giffords for years and was invited to take the photos.

“I was excited to see her and to see her smile,” Weis said on Giffords’ Facebook page. “She was glad to see me, was in a good mood, smiling and laughing and seemed to enjoy the experience. I certainly did, too.”

Gabrielle has made so much progress since starting her rehabilitation sources say, but she still has a long way to go and will be heading home soon. The man that shot the congresswoman and 19 others was found to be incompetent to stand trial, but will be tested again in about four months after treatment.
