My Chemical Romance Fans Unite
May 21, 2008
The Alternative rock band My Chemical Romance sure do have some devoted fans.
Newspapers and magazines in the U.K. have taken aim at the band for their dark, moody music and lyrics, which have turned them into superstars among ‘emo’ youths.
So now, in honor of their heroes, Hundreds of My Chemical Romance fans plan to march in London on May 31 to protest the group’s treatment by the British media. They will go from London’s Hyde Park to the offices of Britain’s the Daily Mail newspaper.
Here’s a little history on the band:
Gerard Way, Mikey Way, Frank Iero, Ray Toro and Bob Bryar formed their group in 2001. Shortly after they signed to Eyeball Records and released their debut album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love in 2002. They signed with Reprise Records the next year and released their major label debut Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge in 2004. The album was a commercial success, selling over one million copies. The band followed this success with 2006’s The Black Parade, featuring their hit singles, “Welcome to the Black Parade“, “Famous Last Words“, “I Don’t Love You“, and “Teenagers“. The guys also recently filmed a live DVD in Mexico City, which is due for release in June 24 2008.
