Mitt Romney’s Wife Ann Romney Surgery
December 14, 2008

Ann Romney, wife of former Massachusetts governor and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, has gone through surgery to help fight the development of breast cancer.
Ann Romney went through surgery to have a pre-cancerous lump removed from her breast late last week. The procedure was done last Friday and was precautionary to stop the future development of the disease.
She discovered the lump when she went to have an annual mammogram done a few weeks ago at The Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Utah. The lump itself was benign, meaning it lacks all three of the malignant properties of a cancer.
Instead, Ann Romney was diagnosed with what is called Ductal Carcinoma in Situ.
Ann Romney released a statement saying she was:
“fortunate to have caught this so early.”
“It reminds us how important it is for women to have regular mammograms. As in all cases of cancer, early detection is critical.”
