In an interview with OTRC Michelle Williams opens up on playing Marilyn Monroe in the recently released movie My Week With Marilyn. She talks about how much of a risk it was to play this part and how much research she did before hand.
“Luckily I didn’t know how big of a risk it was until after the movie was made,” she says. “Because it pleased me and thrilled me and excited me to challenge myself in this way, I didn’t think of it as a professional risk I thought of it as a personal risk which I’m always willing to take.”
“I spent a lot of time in front of the TV with the remote in my hand watching, pausing, and trying to replicate then rewinding, pausing, trying to replicate,” Michelle told the interviewer. “You have to allow yourself to wade through a lot of mistakes, really I think that’s the trick to not allow yourself to get it perfectly the first time and not be afraid when it doesn’t come instantly.”
I can’t wait to see her as Marilyn on the big screen, in my opinion she was the perfect choice to play the troubled actress.
