British unmarried couple Michelle Palmer, 36, and Vincent Acors, 34,  faced a three-month sentence after being caught having sex on a beach in Dubai.

The two were arrested on July 5th but were convicted Tuesday of offending public decency and having sex outside of marriage.  The conviction carried with it a 3-month jail sentence for each of them that was suspended.

They had been free on bond and are now free to go after they pay a modest $250 fine.

The prosecution pushed for more jail time but the judge disagreed and merely ordered that they be deported.

Like many Arab countries, the United Arab Emirates has very strict laws based on Islamic teachings that can catch unwitting tourists off guard, especially in a place like Dubai that has been heavily westernized with bars and recreation facilities.

Hassan Mattar, one of their lawyers, said he was trying to get permission for Palmer,  who worked in Dubai, to stay in the UAE, and for Acors to travel back to Britain. Acors had been on a business trip to Dubai when he was arrested, and during their trial, the couple denied they had had intercourse.

The UAE is home to thousands of expatriates and is among the most moderate Gulf states. Still, the oil-rich kingdom adheres to certain Islamic rules.

So lesson learned…don’t have sex on the beach in Dubai especially if your not married…

What pigs! Sex in public is unexceptable anywhere anywhere. One good reason to move to the UAE is women are respected and these things not allowed. Shame on them! Go home and pollute your own country!
I live in California and wish I were back in the UAE
