Let’s change to focus from our new President Barack Obama over to his wife and our new First Lady Michelle Obama.

Her dress she wore on election night is the talk of the morning.

The dress of choice was a Narciso Rodriguez piece from the designer’s Spring 2009 RTW collection.  Along with a black cardigan and kitten heels, a bit of sparkle with diamond bangles and earrings and BAM.  Gorgeous!

Their girls Malia and Sasha kept with the red and black theme. Picture perfect!

It looked like a big lava lamp.

  2. Wanttocan Says:

    Mr. Obama,

I do not know who you are or what you plan to do as president. I watched all of the debates, many of your speeches, and researched your political history. I watch 12 months of intense news coverage of you across many publications and broadcast networks. All I can deduce with regards to your political philosophy, based on your actions as reported, is that you appear to be a very liberal minded person. However, some of your rhetoric during the campaign was much more moderate. Nearly all politicians in my lifetime have pandered and adjusted their positions to serve their goals for the position they are in or seeking. These are not unique issues for a candidate, alone they are common place and of moderate concern to me, a fiscal and social conservative. However, when coupled with the unique doubts your background must raise for any fair-minded citizen, I have to question how you plan to live up to your promise to be my president.

Your refusal to clearly answer serious questions about your circle of friends and associates is as troubling as the facts themselves. You have had dinner a domestic terrorist, written a blurb for his book, and worked with him on projects. I can understand perhaps the working with them, I am not sure I would go running out the door of my company if I found out one of the other employees had a criminal background. However, I would not lavish them with the honor of my presence at their dinner table. Mr. Obama, why do you think it acceptable to break bread with a domestic terrorist? Does the time since his evil acts somehow in your mind make it ok? Why would you write a positive note for one of his books? Also, why would you dine with a man who is a spokesperson for the PLO? This is the same PLO that straps explosives to their young people and women, who then blow themselves up murdering innocent civilians in markets and schools in Israel. You claim to be my president?

Why would you lie about your pastor? Why would you say that you never heard his hate speech? You never knew about these sermons? I do not believe that for a second. Why would you defend your wife saying that she has never been proud of America until now? I understand that you love her of course, but speaking honestly about your opinion regarding something that shocking would not betray that love; it would however have been and still would be the right thing to do for the county you claim to love and the people you want to lead. Are you also not proud of America? Why would you insult middle class conservatives? Are you offended by guns and bibles? Do you want to take them away from people? Do you think someone of a fundamental faith inferior to yourself? Mr. Obama, I do not know who you are and why you deceive and avoid issues.

Do, you want to spread the wealth? Do you want to spread my paycheck, Mr. Obama? Would you like to take more of the money I earn by working every day, 10-12 hours a day? How much do you want? Is 40, 50, 60% enough for you? Who would you like to give it to? Who should decide who gets it? Do you think it is my money or the government’s money? What do you believe? What do you consider a right? A home, healthcare, good food, a car, a job? Should I pay for you to give these things to everyone that can not earn them on their own? I do not know, and yet you want to be my president.

I have been listening to Seth Godin’s newest book, Tribes. In this book he theorizes that in today’s world people are not as interested in products that have storied, long, proven histories. Rather, today consumers are looking for new and exciting change, looking for products that are different and represented by radical figures/leaders. I believe you have benefited from this phenomenon. You are older than me by 3 years, and I am sure you have a rich life story. However, as it relates to being a commander of the largest military on the planet and leader of the US government, I do not understand your qualifications. Your speeches sound impressive, and I listen intently and with as open a mind as possible, but I honestly do not hear anything. Your speeches are vapid to my ears, I hear words without meaning. I walk away empty and disturbed. You said last night that you had been campaigning for the Presidency for 21 months. If that is the case, how then Mr. Obama have you really served any significant time as a US Senator? I do not wish to insult, only to convey my concern to the man that claims to be my president. Last night, you said you hear my voice…I am talking and wonder if you can truly hear me.

You want me to believe in you as my president. But, I am deeply concerned that the American people have put their trust in an idea and an image, not in you. Even my friends who voted for you, and there are a great many of my circle that did, admit they rolled the dice on a vague notion of hope and undefined change. Perhaps you will be wise enough to put aside any radical ideals you personally hold and lead from as centrist a position as humanly possible in order to move this country forward. Perhaps you are intelligent and skilled enough to rise above what many see as a critical lack of experience. Perhaps you will be a great uniter and world leader and not a radical change agent for leftist ideas. Perhaps.

You ask me to believe in you as my president. For now, I have to say “No, I can’t.” For the country’s sake, and for the hopes and dreams of a planet, I sincerely from my heart hope you can.

  3. MsLaura Says:

Quit hating! She looked fabulous. Americans have to get used to
looking at a different type of first lady. She has curves, not doubt.
Not the plain jane we are used to seeing. The whole family makes
    America look great.

  4. Wally Wolf Says:

What a dress! I couldn’t take my eyes off of it. I couldn’t see Michelle for the dress. It would have been nice to see her in an attractive suit for a change. I think it would have been more aappropriate for the occasion.

  5. aidap Says:

Michelle’s dress on TV made her look like one of the characters Tella Tubbies (not sure of spelling). She’s got good curves so you don’t need to accentuate them. Just the opposite soften the look. I don’t like Condaleesa Wright’s politics and especially that she works with and for Bush but she dresses very well, very sophisticated, professional, and dignified. Michelle has her own style and I’ve seen her look great, but that dress last night was horrible, SORRY! The dress she wore the night Barack accepted the nomination in Denver was awsom!!

  6. jet Says:

took her 1 whole day to change her look from jackie to ______

  7. Even More Concerned. . . Says:

Why would a candidate (whose been called a communist) and his
family decide to wear Red & Black? Ask anyone from Cuba, Venezuela,
China, and any of the former Soviet Bloc Countries if
there was a message being sent. America has been deceived,
worse it seems we don’t care. I tremble for the future of this country.

  8. E. White Says:

Her choice of a dress for that historic night is a sure indication of what we can expect from her for the next 4 years. No taste at all. Never compare her with Jackie Kennedy. She had real class which showed in her choice of White House entertaiment. Wonder if we will have hip hop at the White House how. Awful dress!!!

  9. djay Says:

Ilove Michelle, but the dress—What the hell??? I still can’t make heads or tails of it. We all make mistakes, and this was certainly one her behalf. She is very hot though and I am sure that she will redeem herself. As for that dress, PLEASE burn it immediately, just plain strange, maybe it was her Halloween custome?

  10. Louise Says:

I am happy that Obama won the election. I was not impress with Michelle Obaman’s dress. I am Sorry but the dress is just awful not to mentio her wearing a dnagling earring? She should have worn a simple but elegant plain color dress like white or beige or blue and match it with a nice stud earrings. C’mon this is a historical day for her husband! I would alsot like her to keep her hair curly and not too straight as it emphasize her already sharp feature. Curls will soften her feature and she will look so stunningly beautiful for sure.!!!! She badly need a good fashion adviser. It doesn’t have to be expensive. But at least something flattering to her nice curves and features.

  11. Sandalwood Says:

Maybe she better go back to JCrew.

  12. Sandalwood Says:

I thought red was the Republican color. I guess we all know why she wore black. It was a VERY ugly dress.

  13. conservative Says:

Is not red and black stand for Black Power?

    Scary

  14. MORTAMOR Says:

    THE BLACK WIDOW !!!

Does this forebode some future event?
Is this that dress’ purposeful intent?
Does BLACK mean death; RED mean love?
Is BLACK for race the RED for blood?
Everything is a sign and significant.
Tell us now what BLACK and RED meant.
    -M-

  15. Sandalwood Says:

Red is the Republican color so I think she secretly supported the McCain/Palin ticket.

  16. Dana C Says:

I find that she look fabulous, she has class and grace. I see that everyone here are just haters. She is the first lady. I thinks she looks beautiful and it did not cost no $150000. She real people. GOOD LUCK MS OBAMA!!!

  17. Sandalwood Says:

Michelle is a very ugly woman. She needs a dress that draws the eye away from her face.

  18. Jacki Says:

What was she thinking??? That dress was a mess. It hurts my eyes to look at it. She looks like a lava lamp! She could have just worn an all black or all red dress and black or red pumps and accessories. It’s fine for a Star Trek convention but not for a historical night that will FOREVER be marked in history. What a MESS!!!! First Executive order… A STYLIST!

  19. Sandalwood Says:

Is she really that bow-legged? Geez!

  20. TommyG Says:

The dress signifies both Communism and Black Power. You have been warned.

By the way, kids, kiss your partying goodbye. Once Obama calls your cell phone, or texts you, or send you an-mail, you better hop to it. Don’t forget, he wants “sacrifice.”

  21. conservative Says:

Here here Tommy G RIGHT ON !!!!!!!

  22. Robin Says:

Mrs. Obama’s choice of dress for this occasion was terrible. It was
embarrassing. The wife of the future President of this great country
chose an outfit that did distract from her husband’s moment in history.
I agree with so many others here, not at all a good dress. Oh, I am not
an Obama hater. Just do not agree with him on so many issues.

  23. allthelovely1 Says:

Everybody is needs to get a damn life who gives a damn about what this woman has on.
This is about Obama and how he is going to lead this country into
victory and success. Michelle’s dress is the issue here the issue is
lowering taxes, medical issues, finding jobs for the unemployed etc.
And the only thing people can talk about is Michelle’s dress how shallow
is that? I will agree its not the best of colors or style but who cares
this man will be a wonderful leader and he has a beautiful family to
back that up. Get a life people go to school go to work worry about your
own families and get off michelle and dat damn dress.

  24. Eden Munroe Says:

allthelovely1 …. excuse me but if you look at the photo at the top of this page, you will see that it is a photo of the Obama’s and the topic is HER DRESS. If you want other political topics, we could discuss a lot of things not appropriate to the above topic, but what the heck, let’s give it a try …. hmmmmmm let me see …. Oh yes …. here’s one … I’ve been wondering how the leaders of this country could let four planes crash into our buildings and countryside on 9/11 … and now I see why. Many of the American people are more worried about sticking their heads in the sand and embracing idealistic, unrealistic “dreams” … hoping that America will remain free, that they will get something free, and that freedom is no longer something to worth sacrificing and fighting for but rather something they are entitled to. We just elected a man with the full endorsement of every major terrorist group in the world as leader of the free world. It’s the political equivalent of hiring a child molester to baby-sit your kids while you leave for the weekend. And best make fun of Michelle’s dress while you can … I understand Obama is planning to “censure” the media on everything he thinks is negative toward his party, his family, and his special interests groups.

  25. Ursula Sunfire Says:

I SEE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO SEES AN OMINOUS STATEMENT IN THE DRESS WORN BY MICHELLE OBAMA. THE FIRST IMPRESSION HAS TO BE THE OBVIOUS ONE.

THE BLACK WIDOW DRESS, as Mortamor has already pointed out, above.

EVERYTHING IS A SIGN, INDEED. NO ONE is concerned about THE LOVELY RHYMING OF Osama & Obama. NO ONE is concerned about “MEAN SPIRITS TO THE LEFT OF B.O. & MEAN SPIRITS TO THE RIGHT” (bomb-throwing Bill Ayers, cacophonous hate-spewing Rev. Wright, finger-pointing lecturing loud-again Michelle, cigarettes, cocaine, L. Farakh-aine The Great).

HOW ABOUT THE ACTUAL INITIALS, “B.O”?
WHAT ABOUT THAT SMALL ALLIGATOR THAT POPPED OUT OF THE WATERS IN SOUTH CHICAGO DURING THE PRIMARIES?
What about the out-of-character tornadoes that hit Chicago last season?

    Barry, Barry, quite contrary,
    How does your Rezko grow?
    With slums of dread?
    Michelle’s BLACK and RED,
And Commies all in a row?

AND NOW THE BLACK WIDOW DRESS!!! Yes, three exclamation points up!!!

MICHELLE HAD RESEMBLED A STAG BEETLE IN FORM, with contracted thorax and over-sized abdominal compartment, WHEN SHE WORE AN ALL BLACK NUMBER EARLY ON. NOW, THE CURRENT FASHION HAS MORPHED HER HOVERING INSECT-LIKE FORM INTO A DISTINCT BLACK WIDOW.

FURTHERMORE, I WILL NOT BE INDOCTRINATED. MICHELLE IS NOT PRETTY, NO MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE SAY IT, NO MATTER HOW OFTEN. THE UNDERJUT IS A KILLER.

P.S. As an aside, Jimmy Carter came ready-made with the smile and the adoring crowds also, right out from under a rock in the peanut field in Arkansas.

  26. charity Says:

    Black Widow spider-perfect for her.

  27. Kate Mulgrew Says:

Lessee, we’re spending some 29 posts here and how much precious time discussing Michelle Obama’s dress?????? As if this were somehow freaking IMPORTANT??? or told us ANYTHING?????Regarding the last post, and the commentary: “…leaders of this country could let four plandes crash into our buildings and countryside on 9/11…” I’ve got news for you: What makes you think the former leaders of this country didn’t CAUSE those planes to crash. As the daughter of an aircraft engineer w/ 42 years experience working on Aircraft Engines for GE as a Quality Control Engineer, when he asks/says a) Why was no engine block ever found at the Pentagon? b) Why is the no visual proof of wing entrance or wing damage on the building itself (ie, It was hit by a missle, that’s why.) c) Why has $770 BILLION of taxpayer money just been freely given away to organizations that have already proven they have no oversight and no fiscal responsibility to either their shareholders or to the taxpayers WHATSOEVER??? And, please, don’t think the largest non-military transfer of assets in this country’s history (or one of ‘em), wasn’t PLANNED. Republicans KNOW all they have to do is get into power (ie get into office.). After that, it’s a free-for-all, nonpregulated buffet at the public trough. There was a non-military coup in this country for the last eight years. Your economy and your treasury were the targets. Mission accomplished. PERIOD. And most of you have ZERO idea what went on and can only talk about Michelle’s dress???? Can we please talk about the dumbing down of America here? Most of you can’t even think anymore, and neither can your children. You’ve all been hypnotized by your furniture. Video games and electronics have sucked your souls out through your eyes and ears, and the worst thing is you don’t even know they’re gone or you’re asleep.

  28. Eden Munroe Says:

Kate … I can see you’re off your meds again. But putting all that aside, when you say, “…Your economy and your treasury were the targets,” does that mean you are not one of us? … not an God-fearing, tax-paying American?

  29. A Says:

what was she thinking???? those colors were far from American…i kept thinking there was a big “RED STAR” on the dress somewhere!

  30. Jay Says:

Mrs. Obamas’ dress - reminds me of a black widow spider. She and her husband are going to suck the life out of America.

  31. E.B. Says:

Whomever your negative thinking and mean spirited people are, you all need to be praying for the president and his family, instead of talking about them. Everyone is truly entitled to his or her opinion. Enjoy life, show love to one another, and stop the meanness of this world. No one asked you how the prisedent’s wife look. Be careful of how you talk an dlook down on people, especially those that are trying and wanting to make a difference in your life since you don’t know how to make the change for yourself, because that old ticker(Your Heart) is to harden for love, so all you know how to do is look down on the next best thing for us all and make rude comments. Stop looking at other people, and step back and look at yourself. Ask God to better you and your lifes’ problems aand you will not have time to be trying to tear someone else charcter down.(E.B) GOD IS THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS THE RIGHTS AND AUTHORITY TO JUDGE!

  32. Ruth Says:

My first reaction was OMG. Michelle is a very attractive woman with great taste but, this particular selection was a best a disaster.. She will look back one day and say “what was I thinking”!!!

  33. Sherri Holmberg Says:

I may be crazy, but I loved that dress.

  34. StarLuxfashion - Celebrity Fashion, Style and Gossip Says:

[…] course, just like at all the big events that Michelle Obama attends, everyone wants to know all about the dress she wore on inauguration day.  I think it’s safe to say she will be one […]
