Marcus Jordan Dispute Between UFC And Adidas Over Nike Air Jordan Shoes
October 21, 2009
Michael Jordan’s son, Marcus Jordan, 18, is causing trouble for the UCF putting their $1.9 million contract in jeopardy over wearing his father’s Nike Air Jordan shoes.
The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the UCF promised Marcus that he would be able to wear the Nike Air Jordan brand of shoes for the Knights’ basketball team this season, but a problem has come up considering the UCF has an exclusive $1.9 million contract with Adidas that requires all coaches and athletes to wear only the company’s shoes, apparel and game equipment.
Marcus says:
“When I was being recruited, we talked about it. They said they had talked to the Adidas people and it wasn’t going to be a problem. I think everybody understands how big of a deal it is for my family.”
But now there is a conflict with the UCF that has strained their business relationship with Adidas and current contract renewal negotiations, which expires in 2010.
Adidas spokeswoman, Andrea Croso says there is a dispute and they are currently reviewing it:
“There is no compromise and the contract is currently under review. We are in negotiations for a future relationship regarding the broader UCF athletic program. What I can say is that these relationships are based upon agreed deliverables for both parties.”

I thought it was UCF…and not UFC. You guys really need to do a better job with checking for accuracy in your articles.

UCF - University of Central Florida. It doesn’t take much to proof your story, particularly the headline.
