Madonna And Guy Ritchie To Divorce

 

Since the beginning of the year rumors have been swirling and regularly denied that Madonna and Guy Ritchie are ending their eight-year marriage with divorce.  It appears now that the rumors were true and the couple tried their best to make it work throughout the year.

A source tells the The Sun:

“Despite huge attempts to patch things up they both knew deep down that divorce was on the cards. It wasn’t a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’.

“They tried hard over the last few months but their fighting was getting out of control.”

The British newspaper is also claiming that the couple will be issuing a statement “imminently.”

UPDATE:  It’s Official.  Madonna and Guy Ritchie ARE divorcing.  A short statement e-mailed to the Associated Press by Liz Rosenberg reads:

“Madonna and Guy Ritchie have agreed to divorce after seven-and-a-half years of marriage. They have both requested that the media maintain respect for their family at this difficult time.”

The statement, which was co-signed by Ritchie’s representative, also said that the couple had not agreed to a settlement.

“The judgment of the court would be to try and assess what they came in with and divide what they built up fairly equally,” said David Allison, a lawyer with Family Law in Partnership, a London firm, told the AP.
