Mackenzie Phillips Tells All

In a tell-all book titled High on Arrival that hits shelves today 49-year-old Mackenzie Phillips, former child actress, reveals that her dad John Phillips, of the 60′s band the Mamas and the Papas, and her had a long-term incestuous relationship.

Though she tells People:

“Don’t hate my father.”

Phillips, who has survived a drug addiction, several arrests and divorce, reveals in the book that she was already working on the TV sitcom One Day at a Time when her father had sex with her in 1979 when she was 19-years-old on the night before she was set to marry Rolling Stones entourage member Jeff Sessler.

“On the eve of my wedding, my father showed up, determined to stop it.  I had tons of pills, and Dad had tons of everything too. Eventually I passed out on Dad’s bed.

My father was not a man with boundaries. He was full of love, and he was sick with drugs. I woke up that night from a blackout to find myself having sex with my own father.

Had this happened before? I didn’t know. All I can say is it was the first time I was aware of it.”

After that her life began to get out of control.  She was fired from One Day at a Time in 1980 due to constant drug use. She then went to rehab that same year along with her father and she says her sexual relationship with him had become consensual.
