On acting coming natural to her:  “I think everyone is born with natural abilities. And it just happened that mine is something I got famous for.”

On being a child star in the early ’90s compared to now:  “I’m happy I didn’t grow up today.  When I went shopping with my girlfriends, I wasn’t followed.”

On her life being normal:  “My life is totally regular.  It’s not like I have a fame that’s a prison.”

On a cross-country road trip she recently took with a friend, which included stops at Graceland, New Orleans, and the Grand Canyon:  “After we were done, I was like, ‘Wow, America is so poor.’  You don’t think about it. Just the towns you come across — all that’s there are restaurants and gas stations. There are beautiful stretches of pasture, but for the most part, people live simply. The East and West Coast are so different from the rest of America.”

On her ex Jake Gyllenhaal:  “It would be nice to see him, but we’re not good friends.”

On her dark role in her next film, ‘All Good Things’:  “After this film, I think people will see me in a different light.”
