Keira Knightley Says ‘Fame Is Overrated’
August 27, 2007
Keira Knightly cannot understand the obsession with people wanting to be famous.
She says, “It frightens me when kids go ‘I want to be famous’. Why? Because you want to go into a restaurant? You know what? If you book, you can get into a restaurant. Ok, I’m on the cover of a magazine but somebody does the hair, and the make-up and airbrushes the f**k out of me - it’s not me, it’s something other people have created.”
She also attributes her success to luck and being in the right place at the right time rather than her acting talents.
She says, “If the first Pirates Of The Caribbean film had been the failure everyone predicted that it would be, then I might not have worked again. I am a great believer in luck. I have a lucky charm bracelet. It is my grandfather’s watch chain with my grandmother’s charms, plus various additions. My agent added a sword and a boat at the start of pirates for example.”
