Kate Beckinsale Wants The Catwoman Role

There has been so much talk lately of who would be the best Catwoman in the next Batman movie.  Angelina Jolie was rumored to be interested in the part back in July and there was lots of discussion in the comments section here on that one with Kate Beckinsale and Megan Fox as close runners up.

Kate Beckinsale is now talking about the role and  says she would love to take on the part because she is determined to take on more action roles.

Beckinsale says that if she was offered the chance to star opposite Christian Bale in a new film about the Caped Crusader, she would definitely agree telling MTV.com:

“Absolutely, that would be awesome. I’d love to do that.”

Kate added that she is keen to add to her action movie portfolio, because starring in the “Underworld” vampire movie franchise gave her the confidence to tackle more physical films:

“One of the things I’ve done wrong with my career is not have a massive game plan for it. I was very surprised to ever find myself even considered for an action movie. I’m like the literary, academic geek who’s not very good at sports, so it was amazingly shocking that anyone would ever do that. I like to be surprised.”
