Is This Michael Phelps?

The picture above is allegedly 14 time Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Phleps smoking marijuana from a bong. The picture in question was reportedly taken in November.
The 23-year-old Olympic champion’s team reportedly tried to bribe News of the World not to run this picture because Phelps could potentially lose all of his endorsement deals.
The paper’s source says:
“You could tell Michael had smoked before. He grabbed the bong and a lighter and knew exactly what to do. He looked just as natural with a bong in his hands as he does swimming in the pool. He was the gold medal winner of bong hits. Michael ended up getting a little paranoid, though, because before too long he looked like he was nervous and ran out of the place.”
I don’t know, I don’t think the picture looks anything like Michael Phelps..
UPDATE: Michael Phelps admits it IS him in the photo and releases a statement apologizing..
“I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment,” the record-setting American athlete said in a statement issued Sunday.
“I’m 23 years old, and despite the successes I have had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner that people have come to expect from me,” Phelps said. “For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public — it will not happen again.”

Are you serious? Michael Phelps IS A HUMAN. I don’t like him
but I’m defending the fact the he has the rights to make a LITTLE
mistakes, it’s really no big deal. The worse excuse is the “role model”
excuse, it’s not like he can please millions of people at the same
time. And not only that it’s actually hard to be a role model but
he never asked for people to look up to him. Anyone can be a role
model, stoner or not. So get over it because he could’ve done worse
all he did was smoke a bong and that’s no big deal so stop saying
“Michael Phelps let me down.” because he’s not here to please each
person individually.

This is unbelievable, I cannot believe Michael Phelps would do such a thing!
He has swam on teams, and he knows the value of teamwork, so why in the
world would he be smoking the bong, without calling me up to join him.
This is reprehensible and he should be thrown in jail for his callousness and disregard
for a lack of a homeboy hookup.
Maybe one day unthoughtful people like him will learn, holler at ya boy, then puff
puff pass. Anything less is simply uncivilized.
