Harrison Ford Says No More Han Solo
May 27, 2008
Harrison Ford has vowed he will never reprise his role as Han Solo – the character which shot him to global super stardom in Star Wars.
The 65-year-old actor is currently basking in the success of his latest movie Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – which has become a major box office hit 17 27 years after his first appearance as the intrepid archaeologist. However, although Ford is grateful for the career boost afforded to him by Star Wars when he was a struggling actor, he would never consider returning to the sc-fi franchise as the character is too dull. He says:
“Han Solo isn’t interesting to me. It’s a very narrow sort of utility in the story and it was great for my career and it was fun to play at the time but I wouldn’t go back there again. Those pants! There are characters that it seems to me are worth re-exploring given that the story advances your understanding of the character, deepens your relationship to that character and takes you into an area that’s new and unexpected.”
“Some characters are decidedly one off kind of characters. Some characters don’t outlive the movie.”

**Thanks for the nice and not so nice emails correcting that is was indeed 27 years ago and not 17. Simple typing error

I see his point, but does he really think Crystal Skull added to the depth of Indy Jones’ character?? I really don’t think it did.

@Aaron – I think you missed the point – “Those pants!”

I think there’s room for an older Solo… Indy after all got married and met his grown son for crying out loud.
A Star Wars flick where Solo is the old Obi Wan style curmudgeon with his wife Leia dealing with their Jedi kids off on some damn fool crusade same as their father would be a kick.

I’m OK without any more Star Wars movies being made.

Crystal Skull is a pretty weak and very violent movie. It also has mind control aspect typical of Hollywood: accept violence, look into crystal skull to erase your mind (and personal political power and conscience) and of course, the friggin UFO promotion angle which is used to confuse such real life topics such as… I wonder who did September 11? Who blew up threee buildings that day and maybe even morphed some planes that melt like butter into side of building while the cruise missiles hit? Anyway somebody did it and this new movie is full of violence and mind control crap. More garrish garbage from NY/Hollywood/USA meaningless tripe garbage. Sorry Harrison. You look good but the movie is just a throwaway cash machine for stoopid proleteriat, Hollywood casts a spell, line up and pay your ten bucks.

One more thing, this recent movie is just completely stuffed with filler. Three Stooges chases and antics that just go on forever. And what’s the deal with the “Oooh the Russians!” motif? Is this still the era of the cold war and Bobby Fischer? Clang the same old propaganda bells, The Russians are Coming! The Russians are Coming! it is just so incredibly vacant, the retro politics in the movie, designed to put you to sleep while the real power re-organizes in 2008. Hollywood is very very good at this sort of manipulation, this perpetual stimulus and distraction that also makes violence seem so charming and reasonable.

The movie Eyes Wide Shut was entirely about The Illuminati and MK Ultra Brainwashing.

Sorry, but his first appearance as Indiana Jones was 27 years ago (1981), not 17.

Despite What Harrison Ford Thinks About His Character Of Han Solo That Made Him A Famous Actor I Think That Han Solo Is Still Of All Characters He’s Performed Even Though It’s Been 33 Years From Where He First Portrayed Han Solo And 30 Years 27 Years For Reprising The Character His Greatest.
