Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino’s father, Dan Marino, Sr. passed away last night at his home in Florida after battling cancer.  He was 71.

Marino and his family lived in Oakland where he was a driver for the Pittsburgh Press for 14 years and a big fan of Pitt football.

In Dan Marino Jr.’s autobiography, he says his father always told him:

“‘You don’t deserve anything in life. You work for what you deserve.’”

Our hearts go out tohis friends and family during this sad time.

Above photo is of Dan Marino, Sr., and his wife Veronica during their son’s Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2005.
