Comedian Dane Cook’s Brother Arrested For Embezzling Millions From Him

 

Funny man Dane Cook’s brother and business-manager has been arrested and charged for allegedly embezzling millions of dollars from Dane along with forging his signature and depositing money into his own personal account.

Darryl J. McCauley, 43, was arraigned on three counts of larceny and forgery at Woburn District Court where he plead not guilty to charges that he forged his famous younger brother’s signature on a $3 million check and then deposited it into his own personal account.

McCauley was being paid $12,500 a month as his brother’s manager.

Cook’s lawyer, Joseph Zwicker, said Cook is “very distraught” about the situation. McCauley’s attorney, Robert Goldstein, called his client is innocent.

“Mr. McCauley denies taking money from his brother without his consent,” he said. “He’s ready to confront these allegations.”

McCauley is listed as the vice president of Great Dane Enterprises Inc., Dane Cook’s entertainment company. State records show that he was removed from the corporation on Dec. 15.

Several published reports describe McCauley as Cook’s brother and the source of a well-known comedic routine, about working for his brother at a Burger King.

Cook often joked that McCauley, as the manager of the fast-food joint, thought he was “the burger king.”

McCauley has been Cook’s business manager from the early 1990s earlier this month when he and his lawyer referred the case to authorities two weeks ago.

Massachusetts State Police arrested McCauley in Wilmington yesterday.

McCauley has been accused of stealing millions of dollars from his client from July 2007 through December 2008. He allegedly transferred the money from his client’s account into his own account without his client’s permission.

McCauley will be arraigned on two counts of larceny over $250.

Comedian Dane Cook is best known for his acting roles in such movies as Employee of the Month, Good Luck Chuck and most recently in My Best Friend’s Girl with Kate Hudson.

And in other Dane Cook news, there’s rumors going around that he recently got married to an unknown lucky lady.

Although this should be taken with a grain of salt considering no major news agency or are reporting on his “marriage”.
