Code Pink tries to disrupt Sarah Palins speech
September 4, 2008
On Wednesday night protesters from CodePink, a group of women activists who oppose the Iraq war, attempted to rush the stage as vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin delivered her headline address.
At least one woman wielding a sign and dressed in the group’s signature pink t-shirt, attempted to disrupt Palin’s address before security escorted her from the Xcel Center.
Four members were arrested Wednesday for civil disobedience after crawling under a fence only a couple of blocks from the convention center. They were later release.
A pleathura of groups have congregated in the city since last week to make known their opposition to McCain, Palin and the Republican Party. More than 400 people have been arrested so far.
