Carson Daly made a homophobic joke on his radio show about gays not being tough enough to wrestle the JetBlue Airways pilot, who went nuts mid flight, to the ground and has now began to back peddle offering up an apology.
“On this particular flight, most of the people were on their way to some sort of security conference in Las Vegas…so it was a bunch of dudes, and well-trained dudes.” Daly stated on his radio show. “If that were me…with my luck, it would be like, ‘This is the flight going to the [gay] pride parade in San Francisco…I mean, that would be my colleagues.”
He must have felt the backlash of making that comment immediately because he then tweeted an apology:
“This morning on my radio show I attempted to make fun of myself & offended others by mistake. I sincerely apologize,” Daly tweeted.
He didn’t stop there, he also released this statement:
“We live in a time where gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals find courage every day to overcome adversity, stand up to bullying and find equality. I’m truly saddened that my words today suggested otherwise.”
Anyone who is on the radio, in movies, on the small screen, or just in the media spotlight period should know by now not to make any jokes, whether it’s intended to be light hearted or not, about gays, lesbians, transgender, bisexuals, mentally challenged.
