Barack Obama ‘Punch Drunk’ On 60 Minutes

March 23, 2009

Watch CBS Videos Online

President Barack Obama sat down with 60 Minutes in the Oval Office to talk about the AIG debacle, the economy, and getting the hang of the world’s most difficult job.  Although I think what most people are talking about today is Obama laughing during some of the questions and then Steve Kroft asks Obama if he’s ‘punch drunk’.

Here’s a bit of how it went:

Kroft: “You’re sitting here. And you’re — you are laughing. You are laughing about some of these problems. Are people going to look at this and say, ‘I mean, he’s sitting there just making jokes about money –’ How do you deal with — I mean, wh — explain.”

Obama: “Well –

Kroft: ” — the mood and your laughter.”

Obama: “Yeah, I mean, there’s got to be –”

Kroft: “Are you punch drunk?”

Obama: “No, no. There’s gotta be a little gallows humor to get you through the day. You know, sometimes my team — talks about the fact that if — if you had said to us a year ago that — the least of my problems would be Iraq, which is still a pretty serious problem — I don’t think anybody would have believed it. But — but we’ve got a lot on our plate. And — a lot of difficult decisions that we’re going to have to make.”

Watch the video above.  The discussion of whether the president is “punch drunk” starts right around the 13:30 mark.

Hello, We had our body language coach go over this interview frame by
frame and the results were interesting. We need to be critical
sometimes obviously, but sometimes we need to carry the right message
and this was not one of those times for 60 Minutes or the follow
up news media. We have big problems and as much as we like to
we do not need to turkey shoot the President on this one.

Thanks for being objective :) http://www.pamil-visions.net/obama-body-language/
