Baltimore Ravens Willis McGahee Injury Update

January 19, 2009

The Baltimore Ravens suffered a serious scare Sunday night when running back Willis McGahee was carted off the field near the end of the fourth quarter after a helmet to helmet collision with safety Ryan Clark.

Both players laid motionless on the field for several minutes.  Clark walked off the field under his own power and McGahee was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital for further tests and stayed overnight.

Kevin Byrne, the Ravens senior vice president of public and community relations, released this statement:

“Ravens running back Willis McGahee was released from UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh early this morning and returned immediately to Baltimore. He is resting at his home today. It is expected that Willis will have a complete recovery from the head and neck injuries he suffered last night.”
