Avril Lavigne’s new album debuted at Number One this week on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart, selling 286,358 copies.”The Best Damn Thing” has already sold more than 1.5 million copies internationally, fueled by a combo of Lavigne’s previous successes as well as the strength of the single “Girlfriend,” which also jumps to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Downloaded Singles charts.

The Canadian pop-punk singer has referred to her new album (her third) as “hands down, the best I’ve ever made,” and Rolling Stone magazine praised it for its “big doses of sass, anger, and vulnerability.”
