Ashley Judd Blasts Sarah Palin In New Defenders of Wildlife PSA

February 5, 2009

ashley-judd-psa.jpg

Ashley Judd is attacking Governor Sarah Palin in a new Defenders of Wildlife campaign over Palin’s support of the aerial killing of wolves and bears in Alaska.

In the PSA Judd says that Palin promotes brutal aerial killing of wolves, that she proposed a $150 bounty for the severed foreleg of each killed wolf and that she is now encouraging more aerial killings.

Check out the Defenders of Wildlife PSA Video below: (warning, it may be considered a bit disturbing to some)

Whoa baby!  PETA would be pleased!!

I have to agree with Ashley Judd. Sarah really has a thing against wolves doesn’t she? Only problem is that this whole controversay is going to make Palin open her mouth again and again and again. I am so sick of listening to that woman!! Enough already!!! I think all reporters should boycott Alaska!!! lol. (Well, if it’s to interview or report on this woman. Wouldn’t that just put her over the edge!!). Some silence from this uneducated loser until oh, say, 2012 (when she’ll just pop up I’m sure) would be bliss!! (wink, wink) …okay feel ill now.

  2. I Need My Fix Says:

[…] Ashley Judd blasts Sarah Palin (dailystab) […]

  3. SororityGirl55 Says:

Wow, people are idiots. The government kills animals all the time.
They also have preservation of animals, but if they become a nuisance
or put other animals or people in danger, then we kill them.
This has been going on forever and I think people just like going
after this woman for some reason.
She lost! Leave her alone already!

  4. Kat Says:

A 150.00 bounty for the foreleg of a harmless beautiful animal, picked off
using the guise of flight as cover.
    Heartless.

How much, should we charge for a bounty on Sarah Palin’s forelegs?

200.00? Is she even worth it? I say NO.

    Kat

  5. Brenda Says:

I don’t think Sarah Palin knows that she “lost”!! She’s the one keeping herself in the news. She obviously enjoyed the limelight.

  6. A Voice of Many Says:

So disheartening that so many are Bashing the messenger of Aerial Hunting, though the message it is true. Thank you MS. Judd forgoing out on a limb and bringing the much needed attention against aerial hunting / inhumane slaughter.

All the EXCUSES in the world combined do not make this horrific act acceptable.

We must find a way to Finally Stop the Selfish Narrow-minded reasoning. The caribou and moose population is REALLY diminishing due to the massive increase of the Alaskan population. Not only are the caribou and moose a primary food source for this state, but Hunting is the Alaskan’s Favorite form of amusement, how convenient for them.

If Alaskan’s laid off the moose and caribou for a while, their numbers would increase. Maybe they are, but now they’re are going after the wolves.

If the wolves really are disturbing the echo-structure, They Could Catch / Sterilize & Release, like Feral Cats. But that would take away from their killing enjoyment.

Palin has not only manipulated the laws to appease the hunters, though her and supporters won’t call it hunting, but used over $400,000 to do it.

Man destroy the environment where these wolves previously resided, so Man Moved them to Alaska.

As long as the greed & selfishness of man continue to take advantage of the natural resources and wildlife, Hunting/killing is the only way narrow-minded thinkers can resolve the problems, when the selfishness of man has caused All the Problems in the first place.

Stop already and Stop Palin. She has a lot of nerve calling Defenders of Wildlife and their supporters hypocrites. Palin refused to See Herself for who She Really is… a true hypocrite.

Thank you Ashley for your voice and efforts toward the protection of Our Wildlife.

The wildlife, which includes the Wolves in Alaska Belong to the Citizens of this Country, not just Alaska.
Aerial Hunting and governor Palin are nothing more than barbaric, and show the worst of humanity and mankind.

  7. James Mac Says:

The largely irrelevant Ashley Judd who once had a taste of the limelight in Hollywood before her rvapid descent to the Lifetime movie channel seeks notoriety by attacking a woman more famous than she over a “safe” issue which targets a natural way of life that has been practised for years by native Alaskans and Inuit alike. Ms. Judd has two so-so movies (possibly comeback) due out this year. Crossing Over, an ensemble “issues” piece about immigrant legalisation which is about to be dumped in theatres February and co-starring in the Tooth Fairy with Dwayne Johnson due to be released at Thanksgiving. (She needs the publicity after all!!!).

Despite attempts at making Governor Palin look dark, warped and evil in the video, Palin still looks hotter than Judd. Ms. Judd also brought some of her limited acting skills to bear when she
(s)lightly sobbed over her words in an attempt to look concerned. Ms. Judd is also touts a cosmetic line called American Beauty from the House of Estee Lauder. Estee Lauder are on the “bad” list of several animal rights groups despite assurances that they no longer test products on animals. (Google Estee Lauder and Animal Testing). She is also releasing a self-designed clothing line in the Fall but to date there are no details as to which sweatshop will be providing the completed threads.

Ms. Judd is pro-wolf (apparently) and pro-choice yet doesn’t appear to understand that the systematic culling of both beast and man is actually prolonging the existence of both species, in fact all species.

  8. A Voice of Many Says:

From the above statement it appears that James Mac not only disagrees with my statement but is more focused on Ms. Judd’s status as a celebrity and future business ventures.

Though Ms. Judd is not in the same celebrity status as Angelina Jolle (or however you spell her last name) at this time, Ms Judd is doing what I hope all celebrities would do, use their visibility for causes that need the publics attention. Especially when their voices are showing proof of a Tax Paid Government Official Manipulating not only the laws of our country, but the funds of tax payer dollars.

I could list all kinds unpleasant characteristics of Sarah Palin, but I don’t think it would make me feel any better. Plus I continue to hope that the public will either see her for what she really is, or agree with Mr. Mac’s statement, which means nothing I write will make a difference.

Then again, what the hell…I hope the public can truly see through the fake facade of Sarah Palin, and let proven facts guide their personal logic to conclude what a lying, manipulating, deceitful, self-righteous, hypocritical Ditz she really is (putting it politely). She fits right in with most of our over paid yet useless Government Officials.

I do have to wonder when and how the method of chasing animals to exhaustion with helicopters and shooting them can be considered a “Natural Way of Life” (as mentioned in Mr. Mac’s statement)?

Plus this is a money maker for Hunters / Killers. Bounties are given for Each Kill and Skins are Sold. This has been publicized by an Alaskan representative supporting aerial hunting on the Feb 6th Larry King show.

Killers will Always have an excuse that justifies their killing and it is surprisingly logical to them. Just ask any murderer in any prison cell. Granted some may wish they acted differently at the time of the killing, but they sure believe they had a damn good EXCUSE for doing it. Anyone can make up an excuse to justify bad behavior if they Want to bad enough.

Balancing the wildlife population is just that, An Excuse. The $400,000 of tax payer money used to manipulate the voters into approving aerial hunting, could have been used for a Sterilization Program. If Hunters get so close to shoot wolf pups nesting in their dens in the head, they should be shooting tranquilizers and having them sterilized, then released. But what’s the fun in that for Hunters? There’s no Thrill of the Kill!

Better Yet, Alaskans could stop Hunting and Eating the Moose and Caribou for a while, which is the True, Primary cause of their diminishing population. But Alaskan’s, like most of the human race these days Don’t Like To or Don’t Know How to Do Without Anything.

Like I mentioned in my earlier statement, the Greed and Selfishness of Mankind Has to Stop. The only justification for Killing is the Joy Of Killing. Ms Judd and Millions of Americans are standing up and saying “No More!”.

Hunters keep justifying the need to Kill to balancing the wildlife. But the truth of the matter really is that Hunters are allowed to kill, but they kill too many of one species, then an other overpopulates, so it’s now time to kill the other species. It’s a never ending cycle that Hunters created to mislead the masses and Justify their Joy of Killing and this is what has Really been going on for YEARS. Hunters need to find more productive ways to work off their testosterone. Try Building something, anything! Just stop killing our wildlife, which belongs to the everyone, Not just Alaskan’s and not just Hunters, and that includes selfish - narrow-minded Government officials.

Furthermore, it must be mentioned that the systematic culling to prolong the existence of man, as mentioned by Mr. Mac, Is Really Overrated. What’s that old saying… “only the good die young”? Ever notice you never hear of any Young Killers just dropping dead? Too bad.

  9. Bob Says:

I disagree with Judd she’s just a stupid priss Alaskans need the food
that wolves kill. They don’t live like we do! They don’t have a Walmart
they have to hunt for their food and wolves take it away

  10. A Voice of Many Says:

I find it hard to believe there are so many narrow minded supporters of this horrific slaughtering, which is masterminded by manipulation and lies. How easily brain washed you supporters are.

It has long been apparent that Alaskan’s would love to become their own private entity, and separate from the United States if they could afford it, and Sarah Palin has been leading the way to that concept for years.

As a response to SororityGirl55′’s statement regarding The government kills animals all the time , that Doesn’t Make It RIGHT, like a lot of things they do. No one is picking on Plain undeservedly. She put herself in the limelight position, showed her ignorance on current affairs to the public during her moronic interviews, and deserves all the bad publicity she Should Get. Seems that only narrow-minded, sore losing, barbarians continue to support her.

The human race has caused ALL the problems with the wildlife population and tthe environment, and their solution to solving problems that man created is Killing and it has to stop, especially when Sterilization is logical option. Hunting / Killing OUR Wildlife is the Only option for Alaskan’s because They Enjoy it so much.

In response to Bob’s statement, The wildlife shouldn’t have to suffer because Alaskan’s refuse to provide the overall marketing essentials and resources, which the rest of our country has done.

The logical solution to this so called wolf problem is to catch-steralize & release, if their Really is problem. And Stop Eating Moose and Caribou for a few years. Problem solved.

This along with Alaskan’s finding other means of amusement or blowing off their testosterone (excluding killing) would solve everything. See how simple? But it is a proven fact on how difficult it is to reason with, let alone change the minds of selfish, narrow-minded people. A never ending argument that I am Proud of Ms. Judd for taking on. Thank you Ms. Judd and Defenders of Wildlife.

  11. killershoes Says:

Maybe if you had a pack of wolves outside your home unable to leave or have a normal life would change your mind.. but then you don’t consider the almost pristine ‘wilderness’ conditions one lives in Alaska and how to preserve them either.

  12. James Mac Says:

Dear “A Voice Of Many”, from another. Why should I agree with you? None of your arguments are compelling but appear to be written from the perspective of a passionate and politically naive 16 year old liberal. Nothing wrong with that, save that you will never look at any other perspective other than the one you hold dear. You will fight to the raging death to justify it with all sorts of arguments but in the end you are guilty of good old fashioned fascism, the type you accuse Governor Palin of. If you were to sit down in a reasoned conversation with the hunters and Ms. Palin you might actually cede a point or two. But instead, you choose to hide somewhere in CA, FL, or wherever, flinging vitriol from your keyboard feeling good about yourself and that you have done your bit for animal rights and “why don’t the savage Neanderthals get it like I do”.

This whole debate started in extremis, when something as necessary as wolf hunting was attacked. Historically this “fifteen minutes of fame” usually begins with some fringe organization looking for publicity and a grant. I truly wish I could believe otherwise but whatever the case for animal rights (and I do believe animals have rights) it is usually drowned in the Juggernaut that is the PETA publicity machine, rendering PETA nothing more than a rabid religion, adopted by rabid followers. They cannot disassociate themselves from this public perspective no matter how many Paul McCartney’s endorse them. This is now also true of “Defenders of Wildlife”.

I have problems when celebrities endorse anything because more than any other group they have diverse portfolios and activities, (sometimes the less known about the better). Ashley Judd to me is “basted in blood.” You were silent regarding her contracts with Estee Lauder instead choosing to rant and rave over Sarah Palin without having any reasonable evidence save from personal opinion and what you may have read on HuffPo. I feel that your “criminalization” of Sarah Palin is more to do with her being a Republican than actual reason. Yet the real hypocrite appears in video endorsing animal rights. Somehow you will argue that the end justifies the means. What about the animals tested on “American Beauty” products that Ashley wears? Is your beauty regime free of animal cruelty? Are your clothes free of human cruelty? At least I know mine are.

“A Voice Of Many”, I could point out your “unpleasant” characteristics from my chair at work just by reading your response as you do to Governor Palin or in your description of hunters as killers or testosterone driven. Instead, I choose to say you are passionate, educated, somewhat fair-minded, and good at heart. It is so easy to demonize someone we don’t like or know, but it is harder to walk a mile in another’s shoes.

I should be moved when I read about shooting “wolf pups nesting in their dens in the head”, but somehow I am more appalled at partial birth abortions when perfectly viable human “cubs” are dragged from their mothers wombs and stabbed in the back of the head with scissors to appease “a right to choose” which Ms. Judd endorses. Can you imagine living in a womb for eight to nine months than expelled from that safe “nest” only to be mercilessly killed by a “doctor” who views the human carnage before him as another payment less on his fine house? Can you explain the difference to me? Why are wolf cubs more valuable to you than human beings?

Whole generations of humans have been wiped out this way for one reason or another and YOU HAVE BEEN SILENT. Genius has been eradicated from the gene pool leading to the dumbing down of society and YOU ARE SILENT (my argument, no one else’s). If you must be passionate about something, then get passionate about the ecology and environment as a whole. We cannot afford to be selective. The ecology just doesn’t apply to any one species. When we start taking care of our unborn humans I think the ecology will begin to heal properly too. I fear this rationale is lost on you as you would prefer it that “young killers” “drop dead” ear-marking another branch of society for death. How easy it is for you to pronounce death for one group while protecting another.

I agree with you that “the Greed and Selfishness of Mankind Has to Stop” but it begins with you, “Voice of the Many”. Until you drop the bulletin points given you by “selfish - narrow-minded” animal rights “officials” and quit knee-jerking and then look to OUR environment as a whole then you might actually achieve something worthwhile.

  13. A many of voices...in my head Says:

And look what the wolf did in the Three Little Pigs…he blew there hose down!

  14. A Voice of Many Says:

First I’ll take a moment to respond to respond to KillerShoes, It is the overpopulation and selfishness of man that has Moved Into the Environment of the Wildlife. I hate to admit that I am one of those, living in a rural area and taking up the space of the natural wildlife. I am surrounded coyotes, mountain lions, deadly snakes, insects and varmints. But responsible, intelligent people can coexist with some sense of normalcy in the midst of these threats if they respect the environment they Moved into, and act with logic, Not Selfishness.

If you feel seriously threatened & don’t like the neighborhood of wildlife that lives in your area, who were there Long Before you even existed and have more right to live there but have lost that right to the selfishness and over population of the human race, then Move, Get Out.

Human being’s, at least most, have the ability to reason and make choices. To Choose what to do and where and how to live their lives. Some feel that they have no choices and that’s a cop out and a lie. It might take time, tons of hard work and imaginative thinking, but as the humane race we have choices, Wildlife have only instinct and survival as major thought pattern and are losing there ability to survive because the human race has gotten lazy & selfish and lost their humanity. I have Not.

If Killing was allowed against the threats or what appears to be a threat in our environment, the slums of this country would no longer exist because they would be killed off, the good as well as the crooks, Just because so many look down and out, doesn’t mean they are crooks. But the appearance of being a threat is good reason, then an “oops”. It is not allowed against man and it shouldn’t be allowed against the wildlife we steal from.

My so called “neighbors” have been more of a dangerous threat and caused more problems (and they enjoy being that way) than all the wolves in Alaska. But I can’t kill them.

Yet the wolves at the back door of KillerShoes are not maliciously showing up to do harm, they are wondering, searching for food that the human race has limited them to. Though they are hunters, They don’t show up to your back door to kill you. The might look dangerous, but so would anyone who’s life is in danger.

But wasting my time to acknowledge KillerShoes comment, let alone take the time to respond to it just show how even those with the best intentions can have moments of stupidity.

KillerShoes and those like him can banter with somebody else, because reasoning is a waste of my time.

As for James Mac, I respect you opinion and will try to make time to respond. Unfortunately, I don’t get paid by an employer to argue principles and public politics, and I must tend to my responsibilities at hand.

Just know that I am not asking that you agree with me, my views or anything I say. All I ask is to consider other options in this horrible scenario with an open mind. Also, I did not comment on Este Lauder or abortion because that is not the discussion at hand. Had I signed into a forum against animal testing or abortion, which I have at some time, my comments and opinions would be strongly expressed there.

Here I found a forum against aireal hunting of our wildlife and where I chose to voice against it.
Pointless… perhaps, but like abortion or opinions, it is the Choice of the Individual. And in my simple mind, I can only fight one worthy cause at a time. I chose to applying my voice to protect those that have none, our wildlife.

One other thing to James Mac. Though you made a good effort in your last response to me personally, to be an intelligent and respectable individual who has different views than my own, you lost that by your mindless name calling. In reviewing my past comments, I have not insulted you personally in any way. I have quoted parts of your statements and submitted my view on them. So if this is a topic you wish to continue debating, lets keep the childish name calling out of it.

    Good day.

“A Voice of Many” cries wolf!

  17. A Voice of Many Says:

ps: I sure wish I was a better proofreader before I submitted my lengthy opinions. Bad grammar and misspellings just diminish the point trying to be made. But as James Mac has effortlessly pointed out, I am far from perfect. I do realize my opinion won’t change a flip’n thing, and truly hate bantering because it gives me a horrible head ache, so I wonder why bother? Then I realized, just now actually, that though my opinion doesn’t matter, it is the number of individuals that share my opinion that matters and making that known to the public to encourage more numbers. It is these numbers that support those with the Bigger voice and opinions that can support the need for so many changes. And hopefully someday the changes will be made for the betterment of all that live on this planet & I and many others helped get it done. Here my voice is on behalf of the voiceless wildlife, and though doing so might only show that I am just a simple minded nature lover, my voicing against what appears to be a losing battle is right, and I still have some hope for change.

And as for Jed Campett, go banter with somebody who cares what you think. I am not one of them, so good luck.

  18. Jed Clampett Says:

You do need a proofreader…last name is CLAMPETT not Campett. I dont care if you care, b/c ole Jeds a millionaire!

  19. James Mac Says:

Hi VOM, I’m self-employed but I will gladly use my coffee break to respond to you. I’m sorry you were offended by what you perceived as name-calling. I used the word facism to puncture what I felt was a psychological wall that could not be breached. You name call and yet do not approve when you think name-calling is used at you. I bear you no ill will but rail against hypocrisy. I merely observed in your writing style that you were quite youthful but passionate to the point of being almost incommunicable with. You have since proved me somewhat wrong in this observation. However, your earlier tirade against Sarah Palin (what a lying, manipulating, deceitful, self-righteous, hypocritical Ditz she really is (putting it politely)) and others who wrote contrary to your opinion you somehow don’t consider “mindless” name calling?

You cannot separate the bears, the wolves, Ashley Judd, Defenders of Wildlife, Estee Lauder, partial birth abortion as they are all tied together in a weave of duplicity and hypocrisy. Life and our environment cannot be compartmentalized so easily. The right to life is across the board or it is not a right to life. Ashley Judd is a tainted representative for DOW. DOW is a tainted group because I have since learned they are entirely politically motivated and are another umbrella group exclusively working for the Democrat Party. The more I read about DOW today the more concerned I have become. This is not about the wolves but just politics as usual hiding under the guise of animal welfare (How can we systematically target another Republican today guys?) Of course DOW will never be scrutinized as they enjoy media privileges that will never ever be extended to the conservative conservationists.VOM I know you passionately believe in the welfare of these animals, however the true motivations of DOW leave a sick taste in my mouth and a lot of questions unanswered. Before responding to me immediately, let both of us take a few days to read between the lines of this issue and see what we come to find then come back and discuss on Wednesday.

  20. A Voice of Many Says:

    Hey Mac,

Thank your for the continuance on this discussion for Wed. but it is my birthday on Wed. and I will be at my mothers tomorrow for hers. I hope to be rid of this migraine by then, but if that is not the case, rest assure of my attempt to find something less stressful to do.

But since this is still so fresh in my mind I will comment on your conclusion that I am nothing more than a naive 16 year old liberal who is Guilty of fascism, which was personal and meant to be respectfully offensive. Now that wans’t nice. Yet I, at no time personally offended you, that I can find (and I looked).

My description of narrow-minded hunters / killers (which isn’t a lie, hunters want to kill living things for their own pleasure) which includes Sarah Palin is meant to be more factual the offensive. I will take this moment to apologize to you if you saw my comments as a personal attack toward you. That was not my intention. My harsh description of Palin is justified below. My other descriptions mentioned are meant to be vague, but abrasively truthful. But I at no time wanted to send out an attack toward you personally.

Now, I wish you could see that my recognizing the Possibility that the wolf population is getting out of hand is my attempt at keeping an open mind. My suggestion to Catch - Sterilize and Release is my strongest attempt at keeping and expressing an open mind, but this is not noticed.

No one, and that includes Mr. Mac has given any reason why sterilization cannot be considered as an option. I am strongly opposed by the brutal methods and inhumane nature which have been implemented against the wolves and bears, and accepted by some as Okay.

We as the logical species must find more humane methods of controlling overpopulated wildlife, if that really is the case here. On that I still have doubts, but must consider the possibility. I can’t get much more open minded than that.

Though I will never agree with hunters and their supporters I can’t stop them. And I realize we will never put a stop to gaming. But there must be limitation. I and millions of others are sick of the excuses to condone the malicious attack on our wildlife, mostly due to situations that the human race created, selfishness, greed or amusement.

As for my description of Sarah Palin, this is not new. Just FYI, I had every intention of voting for John McCain, until he chose Palin as his running mate. I have been against her actions as a Governor and a human being for some time. But she has put herself and the situations she involves herself in out on the line. Like hunting, she has made herself free game with the hope of being the triumphant Maverick and failed. Don’t me out to be the bad guy for reminding our readers. It is unfortunate that all she did was supply the everlasting ammunition against her with speeches and interviews that were comical than an expression of intelligence. She did this to herself and now has a messy back lash with the opposition. I am not to blame here. Enough said about her.

I really can’t go into the mess of abortion and animal testing and the deceit in the democratic government. My head hurts too much, and I’m sure this will only open another can of worms which I’m sure I’ll get raked over the coals for, and am in no position to deal with.

I will tell you that I do my very best to stay away from and protest against animal tested products, but am sure I’ve fallen short. I try very hard to recycle and not waste. But I can only do so much. I am doing the best I can, and I don’t appreciate somebody telling me I need to do better. I also don’t appreciate being told where My Passions should be or where they should start.

All I have are my Passions and my principles that are truly my own, so I do get defensive when I am told to change them or to Start with someone else’s passions.

And just so you don’t feel that I am ignoring your comment on abortion, I’ll say this, I don’t know of anyone who likes or wants abortions. Even supporter of a right to choose don’t like or want women to have abortions. But I will always believe that the decision for abortion must not to be decided by anyone or any government except the woman in question. It is up to the individual and their beliefs to make their own decision. I may not like it or agree with them but it is not my place to force what I want or believe. It is God’s right. And those who have had an abortion must answer to their God who will pass his judgment, not man.

I am done. Thank you Mr. Mac for reinforcing my principles and keeping me thinking. I know I have gained nothing more than a major headache and a feeling of hopelessness for all things voiceless. Too bad all this time and effort is nothing more than silent noise. It use to be that humanity and compassion separated man from the animals, but man has turned out to be disappointing. The animals actually appear to be more compassionate with their own species and only endanger others out of true necessity and survival. Man on the other hand is malicious against man, and all the things he chooses. Amazing that this is something Man doesn’t hesitate to spread around to everything else he wants. All he needs is an excuse to make it okay.
