Anne Hatahway Opens Up About Ex
September 10, 2008
Anne Hathaway has finally opens up to W Magazine about her painful breakup from Raffaello Follieri - confessing she was in “shock” when she heard about his arrest.
Anne split from Follieri in June shortly before he was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy, wire fraud, and money laundering in an alleged scam allowing him to purchase unwanted U.S. properties owned by the Catholic Church.
Hathaway tells W magazine:
”As soon as I found out about the arrest, I had to get on a plane to Mexico to do a press tour for Get Smart. And then I spent a week in shock at a friend’s house… I just started to cry because I thought; I don’t have a life right now. And I haven’t for some time.” And Hathaway insists it was her friends and cast mates who have helped her get through the ordeal. “
”It’s a situation where the rug was pulled out from under me all of a sudden. But just as suddenly, my friends threw another rug back under me. Steve Carell stepped up for me during an interview when someone asked a question about it. He said, ‘At some point you’re going to have to talk about this time in your life. You don’t have to do it this week. I’ll take care of anything that comes your way.’”
According to the Wall Street Journal, Follieri is due to appear in a New York court on Thursday (September 11, 2008) and is prepared to settle the case.
Follieri is currently being held in custody as he failed to post the $21 million bail set by the judge. It is alleged he posed as a representative of the Vatican to con investors during a property deal .
