Angelina Jolie Interested In Catwoman Role For Batman Movie

Angelina Jolie has been tipped to play Catwoman in a future Batman movie - by the actress who made the role famous, Julie Newmar.
Newmar, 74, prowled across the small screen, playing the feline villain in the 1960s Batman television series. She recently revealed she would love Jolie to take on the role - if The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan decides to resurrect the character in a future sequel.
Newmar tells the New York Daily New:
“Angelina would own the part. My industry friends tell me (she) has made inquiries about the role. I can understand how it would pique her interest. Catwoman is Batman’s one true love. She’s tremendously popular with women because she’s both a heroine and a villainess.”
Since Newmar, the Catwoman role has been played by Eartha Kitt, Lee Meriwether, Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Megan Fox IS Catwoman! Angie Jo might have suited the role four years ago, but she’s been on a downward spiral since then. She’s aged 20+ years during that time, and gotten to the Skeletor body type. It’s Megan Fox all the way for a successful movie!!

Paramount owns Megan Fox! I doubt they’d loan her out to Warner Bros unless they ponied up some serious dough (like 20 Million or so). If Julie Newmar has OK’d Jolie then that’s who they’ll get.

I think that she would be perfect for the role cause shes gorgeous, and very sophisticated. People who say she shouldn’t should just be quiet.

Kate Beckinsale for Catwoman! she’s purrrfect for it. and besides, she called dibs at last year’s Comic Con. Kate would be so great in the role. Angelina would over shadow the role and the movie and do more harm than good.

This has the potential to be awesome but there is one major obstacle I can think of: whether or not Angelina can play the role as a different person.
She is attractive, strong, sexy, and acts at least decently. It’s just most movies she gets to play the same type of person - herself. A strong sensual female action star. You need that for Catwoman but you also need to study the history of the character - I hope she gives the story roots enough attention to fully realize her part instead of the majority of girls who would just go “oh she dresses like a cat and turns all the boys on, tee hehe”.
As a matter of fact, I hope they ditch most of the “cat costume” gimmick and go for something different looking. Main requirements are stylish and having sharp claws. All in all this could be a great choice if it turns out true.

Angelina jolie would kick ass as catwomen.. she can act her ass off, she is
sexy as hell, and there’s no female out there who can do an action movie
like she can. she’d destroy halle berry as catwoman.
Megan Fox may be younger but she wouldn’t do it justice.

Angelina Jolie is an ok actor and everything but she just doesn’t seem the catwoman type. I’d rather see a diffrent actress playing catwoman.

i agree. the choice is really up to Christopher Nolan and his team.
i don’t think he’d pick a big a-lister because he can or she says
she wants it. he’ll pick the right woman for the role, IF he decides
to give Catwoman a shot. i hope he does.

Hollywood, do NOT let this talentless, plastic, walking corpse play
Catwoman. Did we learn NOTHING from the Hallie Berry movie?? Don’t
cast her because she’s popular or beautiful, cast someone who cat ACT.
The rest can be altered with makeup.
If they were to cast Catwoman in these film she would HAVE to give at least as good a performance as Heath Ledger. I would also love to see Sherry Moon Zombie as Dr.
Harleen Quinzel at some point before she’s too old… She doesn’t need
to act, just giggle like a madwoman and we know she does that well

While I think Angie could pull it off from an acting standpoint, after just giving birth to the twins twins,will she have the time? I’ve also just heard that she has taken over the role originally given to Tom Cruise in movie called “Salt”,they apperently learned that she was interested so re-wrote the script for a woman instead of a man! Again,where will she find the time & energy? If she can do it successfully then more power to her!

HELL NO!!!!! Lets just destroy everything that Christian Bale and Heath Ledger have worked so hard to create. I’m actually disgusted at the thought of it. I love the two newest Batman movies, they rock!!! But if she is in the next movie I’ll friggin boycot the entire thing. I can’t even believe that someone would suggest this. I could puke. I’m so sick of seeing her face. If you do this, you will wreck the Batman name for me and all his loyal FOREVER!!!! HELL NO!!!!! How dumb can people be?? Just goes to show you where the entertainment industry is headed, Right down the SHITTER!!! Catwoman is an amazing character, so lets to her the respect of “NOT” having a washed up skank play her. Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan have saved Batman from certain
movie death. i agree with everything you said 100% + 10.
If Christopher Nolan is planning on doing Catwoman, cause let’s
remember folks there’s nothing about a third in production yet, he
will pick the right actress for the role based on her ability and her
talent, not her name. until they cast a new Catwoman, i’m gonna
lobby for Kate Beckinsale. Christopher Nolan has gotten actors who
are below the mainstream for these. i don’t think he’d throw that
away and ruin his crediability for Angelina. he’s worked too hard
to give Batman a fresh start that he’s not gonna kill it
with the wrong actress or someone “everyone” thinks should be in it.

Okay, I just heard that Cher is being considered for Catwoman in the next Batman movie. This works, think about it. After Bruce Wayne’s parents are killed he starts thinking about family matters and wants to feel that connection. So he finds a 60 year old women that reminds him of his grandmother, puts a cat suit on her and lays it to her. Right?? This could work for all the sick fucks in the world!!! Give me a break. Jack Kirby is rolling over in his grave somewhere. I seriously becoming fucking sickened by all this bull shit!!!

i’m starting to think that Christopher Nolan should just avoid Catwoman.
with all this aruguing, i think it might be the best course of action.
save Catwoman by leaving her alone. i know Halle Berry’s “version” was
crap, but we may have to live with it. i think now would be a good
time to start naming other villians. i name The Mad Hatter. that could
be fun as we’ve never seen him in a movie.

It seems to me that some of you have unresolved issues. Make an appointment with your neighborhood shrink. Why all the personal attacks? What has she done to you? As for the role of Catwoman, Julie Newmar said it best: “Angelina would own the part”.
