All Aboard The Obama Express

President-elect Barack Obama and our soon-to-be first lady Michelle Obama along with their girls and entourage are aboard the Amtrak train that will carry them from Philadephia to Washington, DC. The symbolic train ride is being tagged “The Obama Express,” and is the same trip that Abraham Lincoln made in 1861.

The 10-car, two-diesel-engine train is carrying 90 members of the media in addition to the President-elect, his family, his entourage and staff, and the Secret Service.

The trip will be covering 135 miles in approximately eight hours.

Obama made a brief speech in Philly before boarding the train and heading south making a “slow roll” in Claymont, Delaware and Edgewater, Pennsylvania.

The Obama Express will also make a stop in Wilmington, Delaware to pick-up future Vice-President Joe Biden and his family.

Cops from 40 different jurisdictions will provide protection from the ground while the U.S. Coast Guard mans points on waterways along the route as well.
