Alison Sweeney On Ellen

Alison Sweeney, host of NBC’s Biggest Loser and Sami Brady on Days of our Lives, was a guest on the Ellen DeGeneres show today, December 3, 2008 where viewers were left confused.
Alison is pregnant and due to give birth to her second child, a daughter, in January (she and her husband David Sanov, a California Highway Patrolman, already have a 3-year-old son) and on the show she is chatting with Ellen and appears to be in pain..Ellen asks if she’s ok, then the bells for her 12 Days of Giveawy start ringing and Ellen takes off running saying, “I’m sorry I have to do this”…Check out the video above.
Everyone is wondering…was this a joke? Is she ok? What’s going on??!!
UPDATE: A rep for Sweeney told Access Hollywood she did not go into labor during The Ellen Show, it was merely part of the show.
“She did not go into labor on ‘Ellen.’ It was part of a stunt for the giveaway segment.”

I saw this today… It was’nt funny,, left the watcher wondering WTF??
It was akward to say the least watching this.

I also watched this today and didn’t think it was funny. I couldn’t figure out what was going on. I imedatedly went online to see if there was any news post because I know the show is tape but couldn’t fid anything at 10am est. I really don’t know what they were thinking, but this ‘joke’ did not come off. I was left feeling slightly concerned for Sweeney and confused by Ellen’s dismissive attitide toward her.

I don’t feel like it was part of the show because they didn’t talk about it at all after the fact. It was weird how ellen like ran off, it made her look mean. I am still confused!!!

Thanks for posting this. I put up a post of my own as I was watching Ellen today and just made mention of your findings. I agree that calling this a hoax/joke/stunt is still a bit questionable.

There’s no way that was planned. And Ellen wasn’t mean, she clearly just followed the producers prompting her to cut to a different segment b/c they didn’t know what else to do but to allow Allison off stage quickly. They were supposed to give her a gift and that got cut out…I’m sure it was awkward for Allison but there are a lot of debilitating pains in pregnancy that aren’t labor.

I too was wondering WTF. That’s why I’m online looking for what happened? If it was part of the show, wouldn’t they have talked about it or referred to it later? She didn’t get her gift that was going to make her happy, and Ellen ran right in front of her and it was really awkward and weird. I hope they bring it up next week on the show.

I also don’t believe it was a stunt. You have to realize the viewers were just concerned and maybe if you said what really happened and then everyone would be content. I think the viewers were just concerned about Alison.

It WAS a stunt, but I agree, it didn’t exactly go over well. They didn’t give her the “gift” that they said they would after the break, and they never acknowledged if Allison was in fact okay, or if it was just a stunt. It made Ellen look very unconcerned to say the least. I’m not sure where they thought they were going with this.

That was so not part of the show. Ellen did look very uncomfortable and Allison looked like she wasn’t acting. I want to know what really was going on!

I don’t think that was funny at all. I think they need to comment on the issue before it makes the elellen show look bad. Labor isn’t a funny thing and to blow it off like that makes Ellen (like the oother commenter said) unconcerned.

Im confused. The episode has just aired in australia…did she go into labour or not. Was it reall pains or a hoax. Did she have the child or not? if so are they both ok? It made Ellen look stuip , thoughtless and uncaring. It also left my 8 year old daughter asking…Is she ok??? to which i did not know the answer.
