Adam Lambert ‘Mad World’ American Idol Top 8 Performance

April 7, 2009

Adam Lambert seems to be the one everyone wants to see perform on American Idol lately.  On Tuesday April 7, he sang ‘Mad World’ by Tears for Fears and since they ran over their time slot the judges didn’t get to say much, but Simon actually stood up and gave him a standing ovation.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen him do that for a contestant on the show.

Adam deserved it though.

Watch the video above.

actually Simon has given a standing ovation one other time. He did it for Bo Bice when Bo sang a song during the commpetion accapella.

  2. Lisa Says:

Thanks for posting this! My DVR cut off the end. :(

  3. Angie Says:

Yes!!! My DVR cut off as well since the show ran over. WOW! Adam did
    an amazing job!

  4. Heywood Jablome Says:

This guy is a pro and will be as popular as Underwood

  5. Samantha Rae Says:

    thank youuu!!

  6. donna Says:

This song Mad World is a great song, no matter who sings it, if you really listen to Adam he falls flat quite a few times. He, to me, is offensive, and I hope that he does NOT represent an AMERICAN Idol this year. He belongs on Broadway. He is a freak.

  7. buzzchow Says:

He chose a great song. It’s moving. As thge judges keep banging on about, he managed to make iit his own too.

  8. Ron Says:

That was hands down the best performance in the history of idol. Whether you like his image or not it’s difficult to argue he was amazing. It doesn’t matter who wins this competition… Adam will easily be the top producer in the music industry.

I ran into your blog while doing a google search as I was desperately trying to find the end of hte show. My TiVo cut off the end. Evidently, the post on youtube of it got removed.

    Thank you!

It was a great performance. He is definitely my favorite this season.

I even liked the Ring of Fire song. ;-)

  10. Brandi Says:

Adam is an offensive “freak” that should be on Broadway? How so?
As if that’s any less offensive.
It doesn’t matter how different he is – whatever those differences are in
the first place. He is a talented, one of a kind performer and that’s
    what AI looks for.

But yes; I agree with the other comments, that Adam did a
pretty amazing job last night. I actually saw it live too.
I was confused why my clock was showing later than American Idol’s usual
    end time… XD

i absolutely LOVE this song and dont think that Adam did it any justice. Honestly i dont feel all of the hype about him; yes he has a decent voice and an original sound, but that doesnt mean great, just different, and there is a LOT that is different out there. i think there is better talent in the show this year

  12. Karen Cantrell Says:

Awesome..you can feel the energy, the passion that Adam has for his ability…it is just awesome!!!

  13. Linda Yeoman Says:

    Wow! Just amazing!

  14. linda walker Says:

adam lambert radiates passion mystery, erieness of an old soul, singing on an apocaliptic edge that wwill be touching you so deep that, you dont have to even know who he is or where he came from for him to command your listening and enter your soul on such a profound level that he will penetrate yur psychie and leave his print as bright and deep; as megans tatoo’s.

  15. Susie Says:

wow! It’s like he sang from his soul, Intense passion. He WILL become a huge star, no doubt!

  16. kevin Says:

if i were simon i would give him a standing ovation to

  17. debby Says:

The talent Adam has makes you come back for more. I got cut off last Tues.
And never in my years of watching have I searched out to listen but I wanted to hear what Adam san andhave listened to Mad World about 10 times
    FANTASTIC ADAM WAY TO GO

  18. PETER Says:

I would highly suggest that Donna rush to her doctor and have her hearing checked, you may have some type of ear infection, or could it be that you just do not like Adam, but are frustrated by how well he performs. What do you mean by offensive? Please clarify.

  19. Kyler Says:

Adam is one of those singers that captivates you, this was
amazing and a great song choice!

  20. Mercedes G. Says:

The professional-sounding studio version is longer, but not as
raw and heartfelt and WONDERFUL as this one.
Thanks for posting. My Tivo too, cut him off.

  21. dave Says:

im from the UK and only came accross this version last night by
accident while searchin youtube for the gary jules version, but OMG
this version is so much better…ive never heard it sung like that
before with so much feeling, been trying to find the full video so
im glad i came across this blog…now where can i buy the track…lol

  22. Kelly Says:

    Hey Dave,
You can buy it on itunes.
    ;)

  23. Theresa Says:

Adam is the most talented singer American Idol has ever had..His
singing is effortless..He has such stage pressence..He is phenomenal
no matter what he sings..Whether you agree with his sexual preference
or not you can not argue his God given talent…He definitely will be
Idol’s best selling artist..I personally can not wait for his first
album. It will out-sell all the other Idol premiere albums by a mile..
At least he is honest about his sexuality and does not try to hide it.
This is a contest to find the best singer and he by far is that person
This is by far the best group of singers the show has had but Adam
beats everyone else by a mile!!!

  24. Heather Says:

Adam is a good theatre entertainer, but I really don’t see him as a radio or concert entertainer.

I like the guy and believe he is a fantastic singer. But the guy is a screamer. Ring of Fire and Mad World are just examples where he screams the song.

I’d buy tickets to see him in the theatre, but I doubt I’d ever buy a CD with his music, or pay to hear him in a concert.

  25. Mary Says:

I am a devout Christian and I know that homosexuality goes against God. God makes that very clear in the Bible and of course common sense tells us it is wrong because we simply are not made that way. Love in meant between a man and woman and I agree with God. In saying that, God is also the one who gave Adam Lambert his gift. Even if he does not believe in God it is obvious that God beleives in him. I am almost 60 years old and I will tell you that his voice is the greatest I have ever heard. He is a talent and should be judged if at all by his music ability when it comes to music and nothing else. He is amazing. I do hope that somehow through prayer however, he turns from his sexual inclinment. I want to see this person and hear that angel voice in heaven. Good luck and God bless you Adam.
