T hey may be big celebrity names that are followed everywhere by the paparazzi now, but when these 5 stars were in high school, they say they weren’t very popular at all. Not finding themselves in the cool clique, some were bullied during their years in school while others were quiet, say they didn’t fit in with their peers or had a different group of friends that wasn’t seen as the popular crowd. High school can be a tough growing up experience and these celebrities didn’t find themselves being hot in demand during their years despite becoming so famous afterwards.
Charlize wasn’t popular and became obsessed with someone who was: “I wasn’t in the popular crowd. There was a really popular girl at school and I was obsessed with her. I mean you would go to jail for that stuff today, I was in tears one day because I couldn’t sit next to her.”
Megan wasn’t popular and admits she was an outcast in school: “At school I was not ever – for a second – popular. I mean never. Everyone hated me and I was a total outcast. My friends were always guys. I have a very aggressive personality and girls didn’t like me for that.”
Mischa didn’t fit in during her time in school: “I still am insecure but young Mischa was terribly insecure. The kids around me at school had realised I was an actress and I started getting teased. I wasn’t popular so it was easy to integrate me in and out without kids asking too many questions but then ‘The Sixth Sense’ came out. I would have liked to have been popular. I would have liked
to have not been on the periphery so much.”
Paris is often made fun of and isn’t popular: “The clique in my class, they don’t like me or my friend because we’re outside of the box. We’re not copycats. (brother) Prince calls me goth, but I’m more rock ‘n’ roll. I listen to older music like Ac Dc; Phil Collins is the ish (good). A ton of kids at school have made fun of me; if I had to give advice to other girls, I would say, ‘Hang loose and ignore them. They shouldn’t faze you no matter how popular they think they are’.”
Selena says she had only two friends while at school:”I went to school until eighth grade. I was not the popular kid, I sat in the back, I had, like, two friends. I was mostly schooled on set. I liked that.”
